  LOCAL WALKS
Colyton -- The perfect base to enjoy town, coast and countryside at its best

Leaflets describing local walks

Leaflets describing walks in and around Colyton, the Axe Valley and Coly Valley

  • Colyton has many an architectural gem set in ancient narrow streets

  • Colyton is surrounded by an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

  • Peaceful riverside walks for spotting kingfishers, herons, egrets, and cormorants

  • Walks of various lengths; short leaflet-guided history tours round Colyton, 2 to 4 mile walks around the area.

  • A seven mile Axe Valley walk to Shute Beacon with its fine panorama to Lyme bay

  • The 43 mile Foxglove Way (The East Devon Way) runs from Uplyme to Exmouth and passes through the Coly Valley.

Cycling

  • Plenty of local routes to suit all standards of cyclist. For example, part of the 100 mile Buzzard Route from Seaton to the Blackdown Hills and westwards around Honiton and Ottery St. Mary

  • Many of the lanes are almost deserted, a good way to explore the hidden villages

  • Sustrans is busy putting together a coastal cycle route from North Devon to the Axe Valley

  • The local group Axe Valley Pedallers meets weekly for fun, to keep fit, and to enjoy the wonderful countryside. For details: www.freewebs.com/theeditormadal

  • For repairs and spares call in at Soanes Cycles of Colyton which will always try to help.
